[Did they? He hadn't realized-- but it certainly explained how Shinji knew how to make them whenever he decided to make a quick lunch for Shin-Ah and Kija during long shifts at the Spa. Shin-Ah canted his head to the side in interest, mulling this over and wondering what else there was in Kouka that was similar in other lands. Ginger soup, perhaps? Potatoes certainly were, after all.]
[Zeno finds the few similarities with other worlds as fascinating as the differences. Just like some people recognize the shape of their own dragons, even though they're not gods to them.]
I know at least that place called Japan has them. No surprise there, since so many of their dishes have rice, like curry and those cute raw fish rolls. Have you tried those sushi things yet?
[He gives him a kind smile.] You're really sweet. Know the recipe well or do you need more tips?
[He nodded-- yes, he had tried those sushi things. Between Eikichi and Shinji, he was trying a great many foods from that place called 'Japan', with their curries and their raw fish rolls.]
U-um....
[Shin-Ah began, looking shyly between both Zeno and the clumsy onigiri on the counter around them.]
They're sooooo good! Especially with this green spicy sauce!
[Zeno follows Shin-Ah's eyes and softens.] Ah, of course it's not. You're comparing yourself to a genius cook. It would be like learning how to use a spear and comparing yourself to Mister Hak after a few lessons. It's okay, it's normal if they're not perfect. What matters is the flavor, right?
[Still watching Zeno with the shy gaze of a rare forest creature, Shin-Ah quietly nodded and returned to his handiwork. After a moment's careful study, he chose the most well formed of the batch and held it out for Zeno to take.
Silently, he seemed to be asking Zeno to try and assess for himself.]
[He accepts it and bites it. To be fair, Zeno is so accepting of food that he goes to every dish, no matter if done by an inexpert person or a restaurant chef, with a high tolerance. Even moreso if done with love or care. It might be in big part because of the hunger and famine he's lived through and seen others starve to death for. But honestly, the root is a habit he picked up from Kaya.
The low expectations are well met and exceeded. At Yoon's level? Hell no, not yet. But they're better than Yona's riceballs already. Of course, she also tries her best. His head shines like the light of a soft fireplace.]
While his skills were still mediocre at best, it pleased him to know that his handiwork at least tasted good. He would have no shame in sharing them, in that case-- and he could sleep comfortably knowing that someone, somewhere, would be decently happy with the food he made.
Was this how people who were good at cooking felt about their work, he wondered?]
Yup! It just needs more salt. [He finishes it and licks a couple of grains from his fingers.] It's hard to calculate the right amount, so you only need practice.

Ooooh! Craving some or are they for someone? Yona Miss? A friend?
Did you know? Other countries in other worlds also have them. That's so cool.

Mm.
They're for anyone.... anyone who wants them.
