What's a fire core?

Ah! That's a kind of rock with fire inside that people use for heating and lighting purposes. There are more cores with other elements like water and stuff, but I think the fire ones are the most used. I think most lamps in the streets use them?

So if I nabbed one of those, I wouldn't need'a go find a real fire or anything to warm up.

Yeah, I did. [ He says nothing of how much help she (probably) was when he was stuck in that damn glue. ] Since when the hell did you get marriage into your head?

It sort of happened? I had just left the castle, and I guess I fainted on the road because I woke up at her hut. I stayed to return the favor and help taking care of her, since she was really sick, and at some point... I fell in love.

I suppose that's a simple enough story to suit you.

[It did happen right after he left the castle, so it's not really a lie. Just omission of a couple of facts, such as it happening +20 years after his brothers' departure.]

There's nothing wrong with simple! It was a nice change of pace, meeting someone who didn't know or care about the Dragons. [He sighs.] I... haven't told her everything yet, by the way. She knows that I had a master and three brothers of sort, but not that I'm the Ouryuu. I don't even know how much she knows about us.

Yeah? She sure didn't seem to know anything when I talked to her at least. But shouldn't most people know how Kouka was founded?

One would assume so, but she's lived alone in the countryside for a long time. I don't pry about her past since she doesn't about mine, but she doesn't know much about stuff you and I or anyone in the capital consider natural.

I guess I'm just kinda wary to bring the subject up. But it'll be inevitable, if we both stay here long enough... In any case, I should be the one who tells her.

Making her sad, first of all. She's kind and soft-hearted, so I'm sure she'll be sad and worried in my behalf. She started to cry just with my incomplete story. That's how Kaya is.

Yeah, she's given me a couple of surprises here. But back when she was more sick back at home, I really didn't want to upset her and make it worse.

...Maybe. I'll think about it. [He just can't really explain why it's a hard thing to do.]

So! How are you doing? Are you also doing tasks or did you hunt for a job?

Mostly I've been getting to know the land. But I have been looking into jobs a bit inbetween.

[ If he's going to have a place to call his own, a job might be good. ]

Though if it's just food I can hunt.

Oh, I can recommend you what species close to the city are the best to hunt and fish. Before Kaya came here, I lived with people who would catch them pretty easily. [He makes a pause. He does miss the Miss and Hakuryuu.]

I do like going to restaurants when I have the money. Dishes from other lands are so interesting!

Yeah? I don't think I'll have a problem figuring it out but sure.

[ He can get that. ] They are! But even the same country can have so many different kinds of food in different places, it's great! [ He does love seeing everything. ]

Like the seafood in the Southern coast is soooo good! Yeah, and food can change and evolve everywhere so quickly.

Yeah I think so, actually. It would be fun see for myself.

It is, meat dishes are the best but seafood's a great change. People who cook has a lot of imagination.
